Bella Cherkesova, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, and Elena Malysheva, Head of the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation, made statements at the presentation of the project. Bella Cherkesova spoke about the event itself and why it is important to preserve the memory of the Great Patriotic War. Also, she encouraged everyone to participate in the project: “On the 75th anniversary of the Victory, more than 21 million people joined it, and we really hope that this time, in this landmark year, at least no fewer people of all ages and generations will take part.”
Elena Malysheva noted that music and songs are the most important part of the people’s historical memory, which must be preserved and passed on from generation to generation: " I speak as a historian: this is a tremendous historical source and a very important historical source. Therefore, the project has not only an educational and not only an emotional function, but also a function of preserving historical memory."
The “Hurray for Victory!” campaign was first held in 2010 in honor of the 65th anniversary of the Victory.
