"Victory readings" at Mayakovskaya metro station

As part of the preparation to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 in 2025, on the night of December 4-5, 2024, Mayakovskaya metro station hosted the Victory Readings timed to coincide with the start of the Red Army's counteroffensive near Moscow in 1941.

The event took place within the cultural program of the International Forum of Civic Participation #WEARETOGETHER on the initiative of public organizations.

On the stage, the pop, theater and film artists Alexandra Mikhailova, Valeria Barinova, Olga Budina, Egor Beroev , Anastasia Makeeva, Viktor Ryabov, Sergey Potapov, Karina Kagramanyan , Sergey Chuikov, actors of the MOST Theater, as well as the choir of the Sretensky Monastery performed works by Konstantin Simonov, Alexander Tvardovsky, Daniil Granin, Robert Rozhdestvensky and other authors.

The production recreated the atmosphere of the harsh days of December 1941: the audience was imbued with the hardships and deprivations that the Soviet people faced on the difficult path to the Great Victory. Particular attention was paid to the role of the Moscow metro, which served during the war not only as a bomb shelter, but also as a library, a school, and even a place for a ceremonial meeting of the Moscow City Council. Two themed trains of the Moscow metro, "Victory Museum" and "Feat of the People", were installed on the station platforms.

The event was attended by students from Moscow universities, leaders and activists of volunteer organizations (including the activists of the All-Russian Public Movement “Victory Volunteers”), foundations and socially oriented non-profit organizations, and participants of humanitarian missions.
