Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for coming to Russia to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory.
"I am very grateful to you for finding the time to come to the celebration of Victory in World War II. We call this war the Great Patriotic War," Putin said during the Venezuelan president's official visit to Moscow.
The President warmly welcomed President Maduro and his delegation.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The other world leaders expected to attend the 9th of May celebrations are: Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva , Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic , as well as the Prime Minister Slovakia Robert Fico and the President of the Republika Srpska, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik. The Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz leader Sadyr Japarov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev , the leader of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and others are also planning to attend the Victory Parade on Red Square.
