Belarus was the first of the Soviet republics to take the brunt of the Wehrmacht, becoming the site of fierce battles. The key theme of the event was the powerful partisan movement launched in Belarus by people of various nationalities and ages.
That evening, lines by Yakub Kolas, Ales Adamovich, Vladimir Korotkevich, Rasul Gamzatov, Konstantin Simonov, Alexander Tvardovsky and other authors were recited on stage, as well as excerpts from front-line soldiers’ letters and songs glorifying the feat of the Soviet people.
The works were performed by Honored Artists of the Republic of Belarus Ruslan Alekhno , Andrei Dushechkin , Alexander Avramenko and others. The Belarusian State Chamber Choir also performed at the event.
"Victory Readings" is a large-scale project that tells about the great feats of soldiers and ordinary citizens during the Great Patriotic War, be it their heroic participation in combat operations on the front lines, defense of the Homeland or selfless work in factories and plants on the home front. Famous theater and film actors, musicians and public figures take part in the series of public events.
As part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory, the project events were held in Russian cities and abroad.
On the night of December 4-5, 2024, A. Mikhailov, V. Barinov, E. Beroev , A. Makeeva, and the Sretensky Monastery Choir performed at Mayakovskaya metro station in Moscow.
On March 10, 2025, actors from the Vakhtangov Theatre presented a special program in Volgograd’s Panorama-Museum "Battle of Stalingrad".
On April 7, 2025, the company of the Moscow Chekhov Art Theatre and the Russian Baltic Fleet Song-and-Dance Ensemble performed in Kaliningrad’s historic Zarya cinema.
On April 15, 2025, the Readings took place in Tashkent. The special guest was People's Artist of Russia D. Kharatyan. Honored Artists of the Republic of Uzbekistan also took part in the performance.
