Russian cosmonaut Ivan Wagner, who is currently on the ISS, photographed the launch of the Soyuz 2.1a rocket with the Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft and the Russian-US crew from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
“The Baikonur Cosmodrome blastoff through the lens of Ivan Vagner – cosmonauts are ready to meet their colleagues,” the report says.
The Soyuz-2.1a rocket lifted off at 8:47 Moscow time from Baikonur Cosmodrome Site 31. Nine minutes later, the rocket launched the Soyuz MS-27 into low Earth orbit.
The spacecraft will travel to the ISS under the ultra-short two-orbit scheme. The flight will take 3 hours 17 minutes. At 12:04 Moscow time, the Soyuz should dock to the Russian module Prichal.
The crew's flight to the ISS is planned to last 245 days.
Cosmonauts Alexei Ovchinin and Ivan Vagner will return to Earth on April 20.
